Lawrence Mach

Located on West 8th Street in Coney Island, next to the Department of Motor Vehicles office, Lawrence Mach's Coney Shack offers a unique menu of Southeast Asian inspired tacos, burritos and hot dogs. First opened in 2013, the sidewalk cart soon became a favorite of the DMV and New York Aquarium staff and Yelpers. Coney Shack expanded to Manhattan with a food truck emblazoned with an eye-catching red and black iteration of Coney Island's Funny Face logo. In 2015, Mach won Rookie of the Year from NYC Vendy Awards, a prestigious street food competition sponsored by the Street Vendor Project. His culinary influences include the home cooking of his family, who emigrated from Vietnam.

Update: The DMV location is on hiatus due to construction. Among the current locations of Coney Shack's food truck are Broadway Plaza at 42nd Street in Times Square.
