Maria Schwab

Maria Schwab (née Delgado) grew up in Gravesend in her grandmother's house, where she lives with her family today. She shares stories of growing up in Gravesend in the 1960s, when the neighborhood was predominantly Italian and the streets were quiet on Sunday afternoons because it was traditional to have dinner at three o'clock. Among her memories are being the only girl playing stickball on her street; learning about Lady Deborah Moody and the history of Gravesend in school; and summer days at Coney Island beach.
